  • CHRISTMAS CITY HIGHLIGHTS


    From 18th November central Gothenburg is transformed into the Christmas City, starting with the opening of the traditional Christmas market at Liseberg Amusement Park, and the illumination of the white fairy lights along the Lane of Light. On 9th December all the festive light installations in the city centre are turned on and the special Christmas City programe starts.


    Our event calendar is already filled with hundreds of exciting events going on during this period. Here you´ll find a few other exciting highlights of Christmas Gothenburg.

    The three kilometre long Christmas lights stretch go from the port, along the main boulevard, Avenyn, all the way to Liseberg. The white lights are lit on the 12th November, one week before the opening of the Liseberg Christmas Market and will illuminate the city until the 9th January.

    During Christmas City, Bältespännar park changes into a winter wonderland with atmospheric choir music from the singing Christmas tree of various choirs. There is also a Christmas Café and a small ice rink.

    The Christmas film is projected onto the 1500 square metre façade of the Gothenburg Museum of Art. The film is shown from 9th December until 30th December.
