Brännö

  • Archipelago
Address: Brännö
Free admission with Gothenburg City Card
Brännö is still a lively island in the southern archipelago of Gothenburg with just over 800 inhabitants. Different to the other islands, it has relied on farming, piloting boats and shipping as its main sources of income. Lasse Dahlqvist, a ballad composer, lived here and made the island famous through his ballads.
The island has a bakery, café, pizzeria and shop/post office. Overnight accommodation, bike rentals and lovely walks are available.

There are plenty of place to go for a swim. Ramsdal, Husvik and Gröndal are around the island's northern point. Vassdal's beach on the north west of the island is good for children.

Plenty of activities in the summer, for example the Brännö ballad festival and the traditional dance on Brännö's quay at Husvik.

Other:

All islands in the southern archipelago are car-free.
