Gathenhielm Culture Preservation

  • Places of interest
Address: Pölgatan, 41460 Göteborg
One of the oldest and best preserved areas, located at Stigbergstorget in Majorna. The area shows old buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries before the big fires. The reserve was created in 1936.
When the city had planned demolition and new buildings of the area there were widespread protests from city residents. The Historical Society Gatenhielm was formed to promote the conservation area, which was supported by Charles Felix Lindberg's endowment fund.

Welcome to see the houses and the environment, there are opportunities to sometimes even see the inside.
