Just off the Avenue in central Gothenburg you find Sweden’s only museum of fashion, design and decorative arts. The museum shows everything from contemporary design to several thousand years old Chinese ceramics.
Since the museum opened in 1916, textile, furniture, glass, porcelain and fashion have been collected, and collections increases all the time. Besides the basic exhibitions Röhsska organize temporary exhibitions, mostly produced outside the museum. The goal is to maintain a high profile and offer a mix of Swedish and international orientation, between art and industrial design and between the experimental and the established.
Here you find three halls of Chinese arts and crafts, two halls of the 1700s and the large and long-awaited exhibition; Röhsska museum's design history - 1851 to the present.
The museum has regular guided tours, both for the general public and special interest groups such as schools. There is also a design shop and a café here.
The Röhsska Museum has two stars in the Michelin Green Guide.
