At the biggest indoor market in town, Saluhallen, you find spices, coffee, cheese, fruit and other delicacies from all over the world. The Market Hall (Saluhallen) is home to around forty shops and places to eat.
Kungstorget has been Göteborg's largest market place since the mid 19th century. In 1850 a semi-circle row of market stalls was built around the side of Kungstorget closest to the water and in 1889, the rest was completed making Stora Saluhallen, designed by Hans Hedlund, a famous architect. The row of market stalls was torn down in the 60s, but it's business as usual in Stora Saluhallen and Kungstorget.
