Peirone is interested chiefly in how reality exists thanks to the image, and how we meet ourselves in this visual form. The works are about appearances and reflections, and how memories and fantasies, needs and desires, are blended together. In an age that is dominated by social media and an increasingly self-centred visual culture, the uncontrollable gap between the world itself and our conceptions of it becomes an important theme.

The solo exhibition at the Gothenburg Museum of Art comprises around a hundred works, including photography, video and sculpture.
