The street Vasagatan is stretching through the neighbourhood from Avenyn to Haga. The cityscape here is made up mostly from stone houses dating back to around 1870 to 1920. In the many cafés you are likely to meet students from Gothenburg University and other schools in the area, the School of Business, Economics and Law are one of the local campuses found here.

You have plenty of options when it comes to food – from Levantine's French bistro to the popular wine bar Björns bar, the neighbourhood restaurant Bord 27 or the Michelin-starred restaurant Koka. Jazzhuset, at Erik Dahlbergsgatan, is a real night life and music instutition in Gothenburg and has been part of the nightlife since the 70s.

Vasastan is also known for its many art galleries, for example along the street Götabergsgatan with galleries like Galleri Thomassen and Galleri Nils Åberg.

The family-owned Hotel Poseidon is found in a charming house from the turn of the century, but you can also choose to stay along the main bouelvard Avenyn for easy access to the neighbourhood.
