Gothenburg's Archipelago
Along the coastline outside of Gothenburg, the archipelago spreads out like a string of islands. Just a short journey from central Gothenburg, you can stroll among picturesque alleys, lovely beaches, in nature reserves and along fine walking paths. Gothenburg's archipelago with its harbours, bays, islands, and the wonderful population is a unique experience. In addition, there are plenty of activities where seal safaris, fishing trips, exciting food experiences, swimming and boat trips are just a few.

Get the boat to New Älvsborg Fortress and travel back in time, go on a guided tour of 18th century manor Gunnebo House and Gardens or visit the popular Christmas market at Tjolöholms Slott. Below you'll find some of the castles and forts in the Gothenburg region, but there are many more to discover.
Viewpoints
One of the best ways to see Gothenburg is to visit one of the many lookouts found around town. For example the mountain Ramberget at Hisingen island, 87 metres above sea level, with excellent views all the way to the archipelago.
Guide
Walk: Swedish “fika” with a view
This walk will take you from the lush greenery of the Garden Society of Gothenburg, by way of the main boulevard Avenyn and the area Vasastan, to cosy Haga Nygata. From here we climb the stairs to fortress Skansen Kronan and enjoy a “fika” with a spectacular view.
