Egg hunts and Easter crafts

Tjolöholms Slott is a beautiful (and slightly quirky) castle located just south of Gothenburg. Besides offering guided tours, they also invite you to join them on an easter egg hunt on the castle grounds!

Easter is a time of arts and crafts, and the Museum of World Culture offers you the chance to make your own birds and feathers using a variety of materials. If that’s not your cup of tea, sit down for the colourful family film Rio 2, screened every day at 14.00 between April 16–22.

Easter at the Maritime museum and massive dinosaurs at Universeum

What’s the Maritime museum you might ask? It’s nothing short of an armada of 15 museum vessels all gathered in one place! This makes it a great floating-ship experience for the whole family. This Easter they’ve added fun activities including build your own dream boat or a guided tour on the patrol boat Hugin.

At Universeum, a spectacular dinosaur exhibition is introduced on April 12. Dinosaurs will take over the roof terrace. Do you dare stand face to face with life-sized versions of the magnificent animals?

Pop art and museums well worth a visit

Easter is more than bunnies and eggs, why not include a visit to Miva Fine Arts Galleries and their exhibition of colourful art from artists such as Bob Dylan and Britto. Sneak preview on April 18!

The are many great museums in Gothenburg showcasing some truly interesting exhibitions. Stop by the Natural History Museum for the intriguing Face of God, or visit the Museum of Gothenburg for the photo exhibit Work, Live Life. For more art try the Gothenburg Museum of Art and the exhibition by Tori Wrånes. We’ve listed even more current exhibitions in our guide to exhibitions this spring.

Easter in the archipelago and the botanical garden

The Gothenburg archipelago is beautiful, and it’s located just a short trip from the city centre. This Easter the magical islands have a packed program including Easter bonfires and crab fishing excursions. Check out the full program here

The Botanical Garden of Gothenburg is in bloom and it’s gorgeous. For Easter, visitors are invited to create their own insect hotels (April 15–16) or put together seed bombs to help plants and flowers grow in previously uninhabited places.
