As with many island nations, Taiwan has a multifaceted culture, featuring elements from Europe and Japan as well as local austronesian peoples. This exchange project brings together Swedish ensemble Curious Chamber Players with Taiwanese composers Wei-Chieh Lin, Lai Chi-hsia and Chin-Hsien Chung to portray the nation’s unique culture directly through the senses.
Items like bamboo baskets, teapots and edible plants are used as samples of Taiwanese daily life, and reveal how culture is always geographically rooted yet still never loses its ability to migrate.
