Peps, Timbuktu, Erykah Badu and Radiohead are names often mentioned by those who hear Efia Abu & Drömbandet. Their sound blends deep, earthy roots with a sense of spirituality. Efia delivers heartfelt messages about life’s core values through playful melodies, epic basslines and echoing backbeats. Inspired by her own life, she transforms challenges into strength and creates a kind of magical realism that connects the spiritual and the physical. At the center is a message of love and the courage to be our authentic selves and share our light with the world.

Efia is a Malmö-based singer and songwriter with roots in northern Skåne and Ghana. Her music brings together roots reggae and soul, influenced by both the African diaspora and Nordic folk traditions. In 2024–2025 she received grants from STIM and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee for her music. In late 2025, Efia Abu & Drömbandet released their second album Om att leva i gåvan, nominated for Rhythm of the Year at the Manifest Gala and named Roots Reggae Album of the Year by Lira magazine.
