Open to everyone
Elfsborgsmarschen is a sporting event that tests your ability to walk long distances. Over one or two days you walk 10, 20 or 40 kilometres per day. The routes take you along scenic trails in and around Gothenburg. You choose the type of route and the distance you want to walk.
The 40-kilometre route stretches from Partille through central Gothenburg, crossing the bridge Älvsborgsbron, Hisingen, the bridge Hisingsbron, Ullevi, and back to Partille hemvärnsgård, which serves as both the start and end point of the march.
Medal ceremony
On Sunday june 14, the medal ceremony takes place. If you complete the march on both days, you will receive a medal in bronze, silver, or gold, depending on how many times you have participated before.
Visitor information
It is free to follow the march along the routes and to attend the medal ceremony on June 14.
Examples of places where you can watch the march include Brunnsparken, Lindholmen, and Frihamnen along the harbour, where the route runs beside the quays. You can also watch the march near Gamla Ullevi arena, at the entrance facing Parkgatan and Ullevigatan. In Partille, you can follow the march at the junction of Göteborgsvägen and Parkvägen.
20th anniversary
2026 marks the twentieth year of the marching event. Participants come from all over Sweden and the Nordic countries. The march is also promoted in other European countries and is aimed at both the general public and the military.
