The performance is a musical and scenic odyssey in two acts, where the name Ellinor is woven throughout Taube’s entire creative output – from his first song “Ellinors vals” (1917), in which Ellinor is a Bohuslän sailing vessel, via “På kryss med Ellinor”, “Brevet från Lillan” and “Ellinor dansar”, to the prose book “Vallfart till Trubadurien och Toscana”, where Taube honours Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine – the symbol of the golden age of love and troubadours.
“To interpret Taube in this context feels like stepping into a living legacy. His music is both Swedish and universal, simple and sophisticated at the same time. And to do it on his birthday – it feels like a musical declaration of love,” says Lisa Nilsson.
