Pianist Lars Jansson and guitarist Erik Söderlind have, over the years, developed an intuitive musical dialogue and a shared melodic language. Drawing on a range of musical “moments,” this collaboration has now resulted in thirteen original compositions that together form a cohesive whole.
“Why Does Rain Fall” is the title of the new album presented by Lars Jansson and Erik Söderlind during their performance in Linköping on August 12.
Those who have followed both musicians over the years will also recognize that Lars Jansson has, to some extent, taken on the mentor role once held by the legendary Kjell Öhman in relation to Erik Söderlind. At the same time, Söderlind himself has in recent years become both a mentor and an inspiration to a younger generation of jazz musicians. This development is reflected in a more mature and reflective tone in his already highly acclaimed guitar playing.
The Erik Söderlind & Lars Jansson Quartet features Paul Svanberg on drums and Olli Rantala (replacing Niklas Fernqvist) on bass.
