At the newly opened spa, the once-painful hydrotherapy treatments of the turn of the last century have been replaced by pleasant baths in body-temperature water. Here, we follow spa guests who, despite increasingly hard-to-ignore warnings of danger, struggle to maintain their peace of mind.
Kasra Seyed Alikhani
Kasra Seyed Alikhani (b. 1987, Tehran) weaves personal observations together with tropes of mass culture through fictional stagings using painting, moving image, and installation. Dramatization, humor, and shifts in scale are employed to emphasize the strange within the familiar and the existential layers otherwise overlooked in everyday life. The works are context-specific yet frequently return to questions of belonging and conformity through tensions between the healthy and the sick, the authentic and the feigned, an us and a them.
Alikhani holds a degree in Fine Art from HDK-Valand and in Dramatic Writing from Biskops Arnö, and is currently based in Stockholm. He has exhibited at venues including Göteborgs Konsthall, Borås Art Museum, Kulturhuset in Stockholm, and Lunds konsthall.
Free admission.
