Australian group GODTET was created by multi-instrumentalist and producer Godriguez – also known as Dave Rodriguez – acclaimed for his work on The Great Mixtape by Sampa the Great. Back home in Sydney, Godriguez gathered some of the finest next-generation musicians from various backgrounds and recorded the self-titled debut album, released in 2017. The album was praised as “album of the year” by figures such as House Shoes (Street Corner Music).
Since then, GODTET has become one of the most important acts on the growing Australian jazz and instrumental scene, with six albums to their name.
Their latest release, GODTET+Strings, was recorded together with a string quartet led by composer Novak Manojlovic. The album takes the group a step further into what could be called planetary jazz, and was immortalised through a live recording of the same name from a sold-out Sydney Opera House.
