Hear two loves united through organ music. Although they were never a couple, Clara Schumann was the object of Johannes Brahms’ admiration throughout his life. At this concert, organist Isabelle Demers performs an organ variation by both of these composers.
Before the intermission, we get to enjoy works by some female pioneers of the organ world, including Rachel Laurin, the contemporary Canadian composer who passed away in 2023. Sara Wennerberg-Reuter, composer and organist in Stockholm, lived a century earlier. She is being featured this year at the Göteborg International Organ Festival.
Canadian Isabelle Demers is an organist above and beyond the ordinary: her technique is outstanding, and she is known for playing from memory – a phenomenal capacity that has made her an in-demand concert organist in the US and Canada. Now she is back for this organ concert that takes us on a journey through time and space.
