Høiby is best known as the founder of the influential group Phronesis, which helped redefine the modern piano trio format since its formation in 2005.
Now presenting Conversations of Hope, the trio’s third release on Edition Records, the music moves with intensity and precision. With Naíma Acuña on drums and Xavi Torres on piano, the trio blends strong melodic ideas, shifting time signatures, and a sharp sense of space and dynamics. Acuña’s driving rhythmic clarity and Torres’ harmonically rich piano work lock tightly into Høiby’s bass-led compositions, resulting in music that feels urgent, physical and constantly in motion.
