The theme

On October 2, Alingsås Energi will inaugurate the 27th edition of Lights in Alingsås on the theme Stories of Love. The theme explores love in all its forms — from the great epic romances we read about in books to the love we feel for family, friends, and our pets.

The Light installations

Lights in Alingsås is a lighting design event in which lighting designers from across the globe illuminate urban environments together with international students through a workshop. The workshop lasts for one week and ends with the grand opening. The installations can be seen throughout the month of October.

The trail

The installations will be spread out along a 3.5-kilometre walk starting in Åmanska Park and the city centre, continuing down to Nolhaga Park via Lugnet. On the way back toward the city centre, guides and visitors will pass Sävevägen before heading out along Södra Ringgatan.

In addition, several other installations (“highlights”) will be created locally or brought in from elsewhere, all inspired by this year’s theme of love.

Experience on your own

Walking and seeing the installations on your own is for free. The installations are lit from dusk to dawn and follow the usual streetlights’ rhythm every day from October 2 to November 1. From 24:00–05:00 the installations are programmed on “night-scene”, which means they are turned off or are not lit as strong.

To find out more about this year’s installations and event, download the Lights in Alingsås app from AppStore or Google Play. In the app you can also find a digital guided tour (audio-guide) for free that is available in Swedish or in English.

Book a private guided tour

To book a private guided tour in English, please see the Lights in Alingsås website. You can also join a public guided tour in Swedish. Tickets availble at Billetto.se from September 1. Both the lighting trail and the guided tours will start in Åmanska parken (Bryggaregatan 2).
