Magic with Mozart

Danish Bent Sørensen’s rich and bustling piano concerto, La Sera Estatica, is a piece about a joyful evening landscape. The soloist is pianist Katrine Gislinge, to whom the piece was dedicated in 2021 as a gift in their long-term partnership. Step into their shared bright world of sound prisms.

Mozart’s 41st Symphony, his most grandiose, was also his last. His widow, Constanze, and son, Franz Xavier claimed that the symphony’s finale was a triumph of instrumental creativity, which we are prepared to agree with still today.

The concert begins with the overture to Carl Maria von Weber’s opera Der Freischütz. It is the most acclaimed German romantic opera before Wagner, filled with magic and love – which we hear in this passionate music. Magnus Fryklund conducts in a long-awaited return to the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
