For forty years, Norwegian Mayhem has stood as one of the most influential and notorious bands in black metal. Since their formation in Langhus in 1984, they have survived tragedy, scandal and shifting musical eras – yet continued to push the genre into new territory.

With classics such as Deathcrush (1987) and the cult masterpiece De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994), Mayhem laid the foundation for Norwegian black metal. Through later works like Grand Declaration of War and the acclaimed Daemon (2019), they have repeatedly demonstrated their uncompromising range and force.

Today’s line-up – Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, Attila Csihar, Teloch and Ghul – has taken the band to nearly a thousand stages in over 60 countries.
