Japanese-American Miho Hazama is considered one of the most exciting voices in the world of big band jazz. With a musical palette that seamlessly weaves together jazz, classical music, and contemporary expressions, Hazama has established herself as an innovative and groundbreaking force. Since 2019, she has served as chief conductor of the DR Big Band (Danish Radio Big Band), and since 2020, she has also been guest conductor for the Metropole Orkest, one of Europe’s leading orchestras known for genre-crossing collaborations.
For this concert, Miho Hazama has arranged music written by American jazz pianist and composer Aaron Parks, specifically tailored to the sound and musical profile of Bohuslän Big Band, with Hazama’s orchestral sensibility giving his music a new dimension. Parks is known for his unique style, where lyrical melodies meet post-bop, indie influences, and electronic textures. Today, he is regarded as one of the most influential pianists on the modern jazz scene. The concert will also feature new big band arrangements by the versatile conductor, musician, and arranger Calle Rasmusson, as well as Bohuslän Big Band’s own trombonist Niclas Rydh.
Don’t miss the chance to experience these jazz superstars performing with Bohuslän Big Band!
