World-famous concert hall
Concert with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra
Rouvali plays an excellent hand
Tension, dynamics and light, with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and chief conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali.
Tension, dynamics, light! The Creation, Haydn’s mighty oratorio, portrays the birth of the world and was a success at the Gothenburg Concert Hall in spring 2024. Experience the dramatic introduction once again – the Description of Chaos. We also hear Haydn’s “Drumroll symphony”, which is one of the famous London Symphonies.
The evening also presents Stravinsky’s playful ballet, Jeu de Cartes! Stravinsky loved to play cards. And in both the ballet and the music, the joker plays the lead role, leveraging his ability to transform into any card.
This card game in three rounds concludes with Ravel’s La Valse, a tribute to the waltz, which he called a “choreographed poem”. Filled with humour and irony, this rich, dramatic music is disarming, brilliant and entirely open to interpretation.
The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra is led by chief conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali.
