Sophie Ristelhueber is the 2025 Hasselblad Award laureate. She explores the traces of war in landscapes, buildings, and bodies. In her photographs, she does not depict the conflicts themselves, but rather their silent aftermaths – what often escapes the headlines yet bears witness to human vulnerability and condition. Her works have emerged from areas marked by war and conflict, including Lebanon, Kuwait, Iraq, the former Yugoslavia, and the West Bank, establishing her as one of the most significant voices in contemporary documentary and conceptual photography. The exhibition at the Hasselblad Center presents several of her most important works.
