A year ago, it was Stockholm that had the honor of receiving the shapely and progressive counterpoint metal TesseracT, now it’s Gothenburg’s turn!

The British and multiform rock constellation TesseracT has acted as a counterpoint to the lightly chewed popular music since their debut in 2011. The time was always right for this contrarian quintet. But the more cynical contemporary observer would probably conclude that the band is most needed right now – in the light of the ever-increasing decline of popular music.

TesseracT has always been at the forefront of prog rock in general and the djent genre in particular. Along with Swedish Meshuggah, who of course must be mentioned in all such contexts, the band has played a leading role in the development of an extraordinary spin-off from progressive metal.

Every now and then this djent genre is completely dissed, because of its both alleged and actual musical complexity. And damn it, TesseracT offers the complicated. But they never dredge up polyrhythms, syncopations and such intricacies just because they can. The band’s characteristic sense of spellbinding melodies, as well as mysterious ambient mats and hard-hitting riffs, consistently interact to create a musical whole far greater than the sum of its parts. An overall expression of an almost sacred nature – far from simple guitar strumming.

The band is also known for its meticulous way of transferring the musical magic of the records to the live stage.
