The Mary Onettes Releaseparty

The Mary Onettes comeback!

With their self-titled album debut in 2007, The Mary Onettes quickly became an international affair. Their music was featured on TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, received glowing reviews in magazines such as Pitchfork and Stereogum, and toured extensively in Europe, USA and Asia. Apart from a couple of singles and a reissue of the band’s first album, it’s been relatively quiet from The Mary Onettes in recent years. The band members concentrated on other things in life, and the singer and songwriter Philip Ekström found a new musical path as a producer and composer of film scores.

In recent years, however, things have started to bubble under the surface. They have managed to captivate audiences from far and wide, despite not having been on stage since 2017. The prime example is Cry for Love, from the second album Islands, which was featured in one of Japan’s biggest Netflix series First Love last year. Now The Mary Onettes is finally on their way back, both on stage and with a new full-length album in sight. With the sweetly dreamy and driving single Easy Hands, Ekström wants to tell how he realized after a long break that he had to keep writing in order to function. 2023 will be the year for The Mary Onette.
