Timeless jazz with Nana Rashid
Every word becomes a true story when singer Nana Rashid presents standards and her own compositions in a carefully selected mix with piano trio Little North.
She has been compared to greats like Nina Simone and Eva Cassidy. In her clear voice, singer Nana Rashid transforms every word into a true story. Together with piano trio Little North, she presents standards and her own compositions in a carefully chosen mix.
Danish Nana Rashid received international acclaim for her debut album Music for Betty. With roots in Oman and Zanzibar, she writes decisively and passionately about issues such as cultural identity, the existential question of where one belongs — and the constant presence of sexism in the music industry.
She brings it all to life with her natural, true and charismatic voice. With equal ease, she infuses new life and meaning into standards such as Peggy Lee and Victor Young’s Johnny Guitar and Dave Mann and Redd Evans’ No Moon at All.
Backing Nana Rashid is her band, Little North, with pianist Benjamin Nørholm Jacobsen, bassist Martin Brunbjerg Rasmussen and drummer Lasse Jacobsen. This piano trio captures and strengthens each word with an incredible sense of intuition.
