Vesterinen Yhtyeineen is known for their captivating live performances, their charismatic singer Tero Vesterinen, and the large, organic sound of the ten-member orchestra. The band’s music can be described as an exploration—sometimes across the western plains in the spirit of Ennio Morricone, sometimes in the cradle of Slavic darkness, and sometimes in the cup of Swedish positivity. During their 20-year career, the band has sold hundreds of thousands of tickets and now performs in their home country almost exclusively in large arenas for thousands of spectators.

Vesterinen Yhtyeineen released their ninth album “Liian hiljaista” at the beginning of March. The new album is a tribute to the big band’s interplay and a counterweight to the mainstream, producer-driven digital music. The record defends the band’s important values such as community, peace, and love.

“Over the years, Sweden has given us fantastic artists who have sung in their native language and still made a lasting impression on us. Now it is time to try it the other way: can a Finnish-speaking band arouse interest even outside Finland’s borders?” says the band. Swedish music has also had a great influence on the band’s sound. The debut album is called “Jönköping” and the band’s catalog includes songs like “Wallander” and “Arlandan portailla.”
