She makes every song her own, with a dynamic presence and expressiveness that is truly unmatched. Crystal clear, vibrant, grounded, and not always entirely restrained, Viktoria may well be the most brilliant of all Scandinavian vocalists. When she sings, she doesn’t simply interpret a song – she reshapes it, embodies it, and transforms it into something entirely her own.
Her latest album, “Stations” (ACT/Naxos), is about travel – both mental and physical. The theme is life “on the road,” with lyrics that reflect the realities of being a touring artist. The album features music by, among others, Bonnie Raitt, Nancy Wilson, Billy Joel, and Shirley Horn, as well as newly written material by Ida Sand and Joel Lyssarides. There’s a strong sense of blues, infused with jazz drama and touches of funk, alongside deeply moving and beautiful ballads. Music that mirrors life itself – both its darkness and its light.
