Gothenburg's maritime adventure museum
Welcome aboard Gothenburg’s maritime adventure museum
Now Maritiman is open on weekends, throughout the whole autumn. So sign up for an adventure at sea – guaranteed without scurvy and seasickness!
At Maritiman, there is usually full speed ahead with both children’s activities and guided tours. During the corona pandemic, however, we have chosen to adjust the daily program and sift among all activities that may cause crowds. As Sweden reopens, we are gradually expanding our program. For those of you who prefer, there is still the opportunity to participate in digital activities on board, where you can use our audio guide to explore the ships on your own.
Our guides on site are happy to share their knowledge, answer questions and give you their best tips. Tim’s ocean lab with its eleven different stations is also available for laboratory work on your own. Finally, do not forget to explore our different exhibitions. They are all included in the entrance fee and well worth a visit.
Take the opportunity to visit the exciting traveling exhibition Fresh water – a world of life that takes you on a breathtaking journey of discovery, both above and below the water surface. Through the fresh water specialist, photographer and filmmaker Johan Hammar’s magical photos and films as well as a number of interactive stations, the exhibition aims to create a fascination for the fantastic aquatic environments that exist in our own country. The exhibition is produced by the Regional Museum Skåne and will be shown at Maritiman during the 2021.
In collaboration with the Artists’ Alliance (KFA), Maritiman shows maritime art on board the destroyer Småland throughout the season. Both objects and artists are replaced on an ongoing basis, to give the visitors the best art experience. Read more about the collaboration with the Artists’ Alliance, Galleri Jagaren and the current artist’s on Maritiman’s website.
Finally, do not miss to satisfy the hunger of both large and small explorers with a dining experience on board the café Matrosen. More information about current exhibitions, opening hours and entrance fee’s can be found on Maritiman’s website.
