Founded by vocalist and guitarist Magnus Pelander, Witchcraft is one of the most influential bands on the Swedish hard rock scene since the turn of the millennium. Since their self-titled debut in 2004, the band has delivered a distinctive blend of classic hard rock and doom metal, firmly establishing themselves as one of the genre’s most unique acts.
With their unmistakable sound, Witchcraft paved the way for a wave of 1970s-inspired hard rock bands in Sweden throughout the 2000s. The group from Örebro landed their first record deal after recording just one single – No Angel or Demon – in 2002. Two years later, they released their debut album Witchcraft, which received widespread acclaim for its authentic old-school character.
Since then, the band has released five more albums, most recently Black Metal (2020). Over the years, Witchcraft’s sound has evolved in a more modern direction, yet the roots of classic hard rock and doom remain unmistakably present.
