The main boulevard, Avenyn, runs from Kungsportsplatsen to Götaplatsen where the landmark statue of merman Poseidon, by Carl Milles, is overlooking the neighbourhood. Shops, restaurants and night clubs are lining the street and there are plenty of choices for al fresco lunch or dinner on a fine summer’s day.

Don’t miss the side streets

The side streets have a lot to offer, especially the ones towards the Vasa neighbourhood. For example, you’ll find many popular restaurants and bars along Teatergatan. Smaller independent shops and restaurants are also found along Södra vägen.

Art, design and music

The neighbourhood has several great museums and museum shops. For example, the Gothenburg Museum of Art holds a large selection of books about arts and design and Röhsska offers a carefully curated line of design items and prints. A stone’s throw away, at Korsvägen, you can find the toys, books and more at Universeum Science Centre. Naturally, admission is not needed to visit the shops.

Hotels for all budgets

The hotels in the area are great choices if you want to have entertainment, culture and nightlife nearby, but also for anyone visiting Liseberg amusement park or events at Heden, Scandinavium and the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre. The airport shuttle from Landvetter airport stops at the street Berzeliigatan, just a short walk from Avenyn, which means you don’t have to go to the central station and back.
