Christmas markets in central Gothenburg
Christmas at Liseberg
The amusement park Liseberg is one of Sweden’s most popular tourist attractions, and the park’s Christmas market is one of the yearly highlights in Gothenburg. Stroll through the park, surrounded by millions of lights and browse through stalls selling everything from crafts to sweets.
Christmas Market at Gustaf Adolf’s Torg
The market transforms the square into a cosy, atmospheric Christmas village with charming wooden stalls filled with gifts, delicacies, and beautiful handicrafts. The market runs from November 28 to December 22 and is open every day from 11:00 to 18:00. Here, you can wander among the stalls, take in the scent of mulled wine and gingerbread, and enjoy the authentic Christmas atmosphere.
Christmas in Haga
The Christmas market in the cosy neighbourhood Haga is a seasonal highlight. Market stalls line the cobbled street Haga Nygata, the shops are decked out with Christmas decorations, and the sounds and scents of Christmas are all around.
Christmas market in Nordstan
In the shopping centre Nordstan you will find more than 200 shops conveniently located underneath the same roof. December 3–23, the shops will be accompanied by a wide range of vendors for the annual Christmas markets. There will also be a Christmas stage with daily performances, and Santa himself will stop by.

Christmas market premiere at the East Indiaman Götheborg
Now the gates are being opened to an 18th-century-inspired Christmas market at The East Indiaman Götheborg’s Pier! Come and have a coffee on a cosy cannon deck with a scent of mulled wine and tar, and take the opportunity to make the last purchases before Christmas at their Christmas market. Papi’s vegan Christmas market at Kungstorget
Last year’s success on Ringön moves into town when Papi’s Pierogi hosts a completely vegan Christmas market. Meet exhibitors from the region with crafts and locally produced food.

Christmas markets in Gothenburg’s archipelago
Hönö Klåva in Advent
On November 30, there’s a Christmas market at the island Hönö Klåva in the northern archipelago of Gothenburg. Wander among festively decorated shops, visit the craft exhibitors, enjoy some delicious food, and admire the Christmas lights in the harbour. If you’d like to travel there by boat, you can book a spot on the Kungsö from Stenpiren in central Gothenburg.
Knippla Christmas Market
On December 7, there’s a cosy Christmas market among the boathouses in Knippla harbour in the northern archipelago of Gothenburg. The market promises everything from homemade goods to crafts and Christmas wreaths. You can reach the island of Källö-Knippla by boat from Lilla Varholmen via Hönö.
Christmas Market on Styrsö
In the southern part of the archipelago, islanders on Styrsö organises a Christmas market on November 30. Experience a festive Christmas market inside and outside the kafé Öbergska , where you’ll find local crafts for sale, choir singing, a Christmas gift hunt, and a lottery. You can get here by boat from Saltholmen to Styrsö Bratten.
Brännö Christmas Walk
On December 8, Brännö invites you to a Christmas walk and market around the island. Stroll around Brännö and visit cottages, houses, farms, and barns to find Christmas gifts and everything related to the holiday – flowers, decorations, crafts, and edible treats. You can reach Brännö by ferry from Saltholmen to Brännö Rödsten or Brännö Husvik.
Christmas markets a short trip away
Just a short distance from Gothenburg, you’ll find numerous charming Christmas markets at castles, manors, and industrial heritage areas. All worth a visit during the holiday season!
Christmas market at Gunnebo Castle
The castle Gunnebo House and Gardens is located in Mölndal just outside of Gothenburg. If you visit this beautiful 1700th century estate during november and december you can visit the traditional Christmas market with warming food and drinks, and activities for the whole family. Open November 16–December 1.
Smygjul i Krokslätts Fabriker
On November 16, Christmas is sneakily started in Krokslätts fabriker. Come and meet food artisans, writers and artists and be inspired by both food art and craft. The market street stretches along the avenue between restaurant Tegel and Hotel The Weaver and this year approximately 55 exhibitors are participating. Free entrance. Read more here.
Christmas market at Tjolöholm Castle
Bring family and friends to the Christmas market at Tjolöholm Castle in Kungsbacka outside Gothenburg. In addition to discovering the Tudor-style castle, take part in a Christmas gift hunt and taste Christmas-inspired food and drink. The Christmas market is open November 22–December 8.
Christmas in Kvarnbyn
In the old factory buildings of Kvarnbyn in Mölndal, you’ll find a mix of cultural associations, art studios, museums, artisans, and shops. During Advent, the area’s activities come together to host Advent in Kvarnbyn, offering a program, experiences, and a Christmas market in the atmospheric cultural environment.
Christmas Market at Tofta Manor
Close to Marstrand, Tofta Manor hosts a classic Christmas market in and around the estate during the Advent weekends in November and December. About 40 exhibitors are present, selling high-quality crafts and treats for the Christmas table
Christmas market at Nääs Fabriker
Nääs Fabriker in Lerum outside of Gothenburg welcomes you to visit their beautiful mill town decorated for Christmas. The Christmas market offers food, crafts, delicacies, shopping and activities for the whole family.
Christmas in Jonsered
A bit outside of Gothenburg, in the historic factory area in Jonsered, there’s a Christmas market on the first Saturday in December. It’s a delightful blend of modern and traditional Christmas experiences, and a day filled with food, drinks, and crafts.

November 30 to December 1 the impressive medival Bohus fortress in Kungälv will be filled with the scents, sounds and lights of Christmas.

Slakthuset Santa Saturday
It’s time to take both Christmas and Santa to market in the Slakthuset in the Meatpacking District of Gothenburg. 14 December is the premiere of Slakthuset Santa Saturday – a Christmas market, in Slakthuset’s style. Where everyone who is in the area every day is open. In addition, the market is visited by skilled food/beverage artisans and designers, artisans and craftsmen. Do your Christmas shopping, take the opportunity to bring home a tree, alternate with the taproom, winery and some of the food available on site. And the area doesn’t just close because the market is over – you have plenty of time for an after-party with Santas and other related things at one of the restaurants in the area.
