Start by visiting Artilleriet, located on Magasinsgatan 19. Artilleriet is widely considered to be Sweden’s leading interior design shop, with an impressive range of design classics, vintage and contemporary items. Just around the corner you’ll find Artilleriet The Kitchen, where the focus is squarely on high end kitchenware.

Close by, located on Magasinsgatan 22, is furniture and interior design shop Norrgavel. Norrgavel offers sustainable furniture from carefully selected designers.

Norrgavel on Magasinsgatan is an exclusive interior and furniture store that combines Swedish design with natural materials and a strong focus on sustainability.

Just down the the street, Vallgatan crosses Magasinsgatan and here you’ll find the trendy shop Grandpa. Browse an inspiring selection of design, fashion and books. At Emmamalena, on Vallgatan 4, there’s lots of beautiful marine-themed fashion to discover. Their popular patterns with shrimps, jellyfish, reeds and anchors are available for men, women and children. A bit further down Vallgatan you’ll find the shop Vallgatan 12. It’s a small but exclusive shopping mall featuring fashion, art, plants and a café. Around the block, at Korsgatan, you’ll also find the yarn shop 60 Garner Nord.

Head to the neighbourhood Linné and discover even more design and furniture shops. If you’re handy and looking to renovate in original period style, Byggfabriken has all the brackets, hooks, handles, lighting, wall paint and floor tiles you need.  Svenssons i Lammhult is a shop filled to the brim with Swedish and Scandinavian design from all the top brands and designers. You’ll find it near the square Järntorget.

At the shop and studio Eduards Accessories at the street Kastellgatan, you’ll find handcrafted bags and accessories, sewn in vegetable tanned leather by artisans locally in Småland and Västra Götaland. Gothenburg brand Maska, on the nearby street Fjärde Långgatan, offers quality garments in natural fibres, produced in a sustainable way.

Handmade leather products and second hand in Haga and Majorna

The old neighbourhood Haga is perfect for a stroll. While strolling along, make sure to stop by Tell me more on the street Haga Nygata 29. Very close, on Haga Nygata 18, you will find Rum för Inspiration, a dreamy boutique full of lovely interir treasures.

On Landsvägsgatan 4 there is the store Laura Didion, who produces handmade leather products and restores and repairs your own products.

Haga – cosy cafés and unique shops

Haga is one of Gothenburg’s oldest quarters and former home to many seamen. Today, its cobbled streets, independent shops, classic cafés and distinctive landshövdingehus attract visitors year-round. In this guide, you’ll find tips for fika, shopping and sights in one of the city’s best-loved neighbourhoods.

The charming neighbourhood Majorna is just a short tram ride from the city centre. Majorna is home to several interesting design shops, including vintage store Fabriken where you’ll find carefully selected furniture and home décor. Fabriken is located on Ekedalsgatan 16. Another second-hand classic is Majorna’s saker från förr on Mariagatan 13, with antique and retro items from the 20th century.

Forum Göteborg – design with a history

Set in the old factory buildings of Gamlestaden, Forum Göteborg is a large marketplace for vintage, antiques, design, art and fashion. Around thirty exhibitors are gathered under one roof, offering everything from furniture, lighting and interior details to clothing, art and carefully selected collector’s pieces.

Forum is a great stop for anyone who likes design with a history and objects that have already lived a life. The building also houses a bistro, textile studio and upholstery workshop, making it more than a shop – rather a destination for design lovers in one of Gothenburg’s most interesting old industrial settings.

Spinneriet – old factory turned into a design mecca

Lindome is located just outside of Gothenburg and home to Spinneriet. What used to be a factory is now a real design centre. It houses shops such as Fine Little Day and Vix Deco.

In an old spinning factory in Lindome you’ll find Spinneriet. Here, more than 20 different actors fill the house with a bustling atmosphere – everything from design shops and ceramics, to art dealers, a vinyl factory and a music studio.

Bonus: 3 flower shops you don’t want to miss

Furniture and design is great, but flowers and plants really make a home come to life. Luckily, there are plenty of great florists in Gothenburg. A popular one is Blomrum, located in the alley Torgpassagen. They also have a smaller shop, Bunches, on Fredsgatan 6, Södra Larmgatan 16 and at H&M Home in the shopping mall Nordstan. The lush plants and pots of Floramor och Krukatös have made them an Instagram favourite, visit them at Kaserntorget 8.
