The main tree-lined boulevard is stretching from the square Järntorget all the way to the park Slottsskogen and few other streets in Sweden are so packed with restaurants. In summer the al fresco patios are located side-by-side with independent shops in fashion, health, beauty and interior design. As always, don’t forget the side streets!
A highlight along the main street is Hagabion and Bar Kino, a combined movie theatre, restaurant and bar. In summer you also find a spacious outdoor patio adding a nice atmosphere to the block. This first stretch of Linnégatan is also where you find most of the shopping, for example the lighting shop Elektrotekniska byrån, the vintage gem Minnenas bod and the men’s wear shop Linnégatan No 2.
Around the corner from Hagabion, at the side street Prinsgatan, you will find Sharber Barber and the café Bar Italia. The opposite side of the cinema, the corner of Plantagegatan and Nordhemsgatan, is the home of a fashion outlet named after the very same street: Plantagegatan.
Skanstorget
The area around Skanstorget, bordering towards Haga, is flourishing since a whole new set of trendy restaurants opened lately. Among them the Mexikanska monarkin and the south american Mestiza.
Slottsskogen City Park
The park Slottsskogen is a must-visit when the sun is shining. Your kids are going to love the playground Plikta and you can also visit the elks or seals. Perhaps buy some picnic and enjoy a relaxed lunch on the green. Ever since 2007 the annual Way Out West festival moves in to the park for a long weekend in August. Nearby you find two of the hostels in town, one at Linnéplatsen and the other at Vegagatan. Other good locations for accommodation might be Esperantoplatsen, Vasa or the city centre.
