Fireworks in the afternoon

The local newspaper Göteborgs-Posten annually lights up the Gothenburg sky with a fireworks show! The fireworks are launched from Norra Älvstranden at 17.00, and you can see it from several places around the city: along the river from the Gothenburg Opera towards Stenpiren, from the hill Ramberget, the area around Frihamnen, the bridge Hisingsbron, and the church Masthuggskyrkan.

The fortress Bohus Fästning also welcomes you to celebrate the new year together with a grand New Year’s fireworks display, also in the afternoon.

New Year’s Eve race

End the year with a festive 10-kilometer run in central Gothenburg. The race Sylvesterloppet takes place from Heden at noon on New Year’s Eve. The route is flat and spectator-friendly, and everyone who completes the race receives a medal.

Celebrate the New Year at Liseberg

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the amusement park Liseberg together with the parks rabbit mascots. At 13:15 on New Year’s Eve, the rabbits will host a colourful celebration on the ice rink inside the park. The event is included in the park admission.
