The old industrial area Ringön on the north-eastern edge of the island of Hisingen in Gothenburg is absolutely flourishing with businesses well worth a visit. A short tram or bus ride takes you across the river Göta Älv to the Frihamnen stop, and from there it’s just a short walk out to Ringön. In this guide, we advise on everything from shopping to lovely bars and restaurants on Ringön, and explain why you should pay a visit!

Ivans

The pilsner bar Ivans is, as they describe it themselves, an “untypical beer bar based on pasta, pilsner and electronic music”. Here, as the description says, you can enjoy good quality beer and everything from cannelloni, mushroom risotto and pasta all’Amatriciana. In the pasta kitchen, they strive to use local ingredients as much as possible.

Vega

At the brewery, restaurant and beer bar Vega, you can experience lots of exciting beers brewed in the traditional way, and smoked food in all its forms. The restaurant also has a popular stage where gigs are sometimes arranged, with everything from local to international bands. They also have a taproom with the brewery’s beers on tap.

Two Fat Pigs

The restaurant and beer pub Two Fat Pigs brews both its own beer and imports from exciting breweries around the world. Great food is also served here in both the restaurant and the brewery, and you can choose from over 50 different beers on draft, bottle and can. Inside the brewery, you will also find their much-appreciated taproom.

Kiosken

Kiosken is exactly what it sounds like – a kiosk, but even so, this is not like any other kiosk. In addition to selling everything that a kiosk does, Kiosken is also an artist collective that, among other things, arranges vernissages. An exciting combo we think!

Atacac

The sewing factory and fashion brand Atacac, which the advertising agency Kokokaka and designer Rickard Lundqvist are behind, wants to revolutionize the fashion industry. Here, all garments are first created through a 3D model that customers can later digitally twist and turn as if the garment were real. When the customer has decided, the garment is sewn up in the factory and office on Ringön. Feels like the future is already here!

Asfaltsträdgården

Asfaltsträdgården is an ecological urban garden on Ringön. Here you can buy both fresh vegetables and flowers, and there is also a lovely place to hang out. The cultivation consists of about 30 pallet collars and a grow house, in the middle of all the old boat sheds and concrete walls on Ringön.

Restaurang Paradis

Do you like Persian food? Then you must pay a visit to Restaurang Paradis. Here you can eat you full of everything from the grill or enjoy a tasty and warm stew. Of course, the restaurant also has vegetarian options, and an opportunity to arrange weddings and other parties.

Pallazzot

The restaurant, bar and live stage Pallazzot can be found right by the water on Stenkolsgatan 1A on Ringön. Food, drinks, concerts on the restaurant’s jetty, day parties and quizzes are offered here. On Fridays and Saturdays, the rooftop bar is open, with a view of the Göta älv (Göta river) and the southern river bank.
