Kajkanten Vrångö

The smell of the sea, nature experiences, salty baths all year round and good food straight from the salty waters of the west coast? Kajkanten Vrångö in Gothenburg’s southern archipelago consists of eleven boathouses with fully equipped apartments and the sea as the nearest neighbour. The accommodation can be booked together with a range of cosy activities: raft with wood-burning sauna and hot tub, beachside seaweed safari with seaweed diver Karolina Martinsson or sea kayaking around the island.

Isbolaget

At the far end of the pier in Donsö harbour in Gothenburg’s southern archipelago is Isbolaget – restaurant and hotel in a converted ice warehouse. The fishing boats used to come in here and supply themselves with ice, and much of the house’s history is preserved in the scrubbed walls and rustic interior. The 14 hotel rooms on Isbolaget’s upper floor have views of both the fishing harbour and the sea.

Pater Noster

On the small island of Hamneskär at the far end of the Bohusland archipelago stands the iconic Pater Noster lighthouse. For more than 150 years, the lighthouse has guided sailors in Sweden’s most dangerous waters, and today the rugged lighthouse environment is a unique visitor destination. Here, they have also carefully renovated the old lighthouse keeper’s residence and turned it into an extraordinary accommodation. There is a total of sleeping places for 24 guests, and you live with full board. You get here with your own boat, booked rib-boat or helicopter.

Salt & Sill

Salt & Sill is a floating (!) hotel on the small island of Klädsholmen outside Tjörn north of Gothenburg. The hotel has modern and Scandinavian-decorated rooms, and directly outside the rooms there are several bathing steps, perfect for a refreshing morning swim. The hotel’s name, and the restaurant’s specialty “Herring Plank” gossip about Klädesholmen’s history as a hub for both fishing and processing of herring – and every year the hotel jointly designates the herring producer Klädesholmen “Herring of the Year” in festive ways.
