SDHL Championship Playoffs – Frölunda HC, April 1
Experience Frölunda HC in the SDHL Championship Playoffs! The hunt for another gold begins. As the reigning Swedish champions, the team enters the final series with a tremendous drive to defend the title and continue writing the club’s historic story.
Future Cup, April 3-6
Future Cup is a pre-season football tournament traditionally held over the Easter weekend. Football players from all over Scandinavia will come to Gothenburg for this year’s most fun pre-season tournament! Around 500 teams have registered for this year’s tournament.
Allsvenskan, start April 6 – 11
It’s time for the premiere of the Allsvenskan, the top tier of Swedish football! Watch the matches at Gamla Ullevi and Nordic Wellness Arena.
Sweden vs. Denmark, Women’ s World Cup qualifier, April 14
On April 14, Sweden plays its first home match in the qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
Göteborg City Run, April 25
On April 25, 2026, central Gothenburg will be transformed into a fun running course filled with community, surprises, and just the right amount of breathlessness. Gothenburg City Run is one of Gothenburg’s most fun races! Here, you are not competing against the clock – you are enjoying the run itself.
Tough Viking Slottsskogen 2026, April 25
Tough Viking is Sweden’s first and Gothenburg’s largest obstacle course race. Watch 3,500 participants take on many spectacular obstacles with fire, ice baths, mud and massive constructions in Slottsskogen. Free admission for spectators.

Liseberg opens for the summer, April 18

Sharks, Camera, Action! April 25, 2026 – Augusti 29, 2027
The exhibition portrays some of the sharks that inhabit cold seas, species about which we know surprisingly little. Through spectacular films and images, you will encounter everything from a baby shark to the legendary Greenland shark, while also gaining a glimpse behind the camera. An exploration that both sparks curiosity and highlights the crucial role sharks play in the oceans’ biodiversity.

GothCon 2026, April 3-5
GothCon takes place in central Gothenburg every Easter. The convention has been running since the 1970s and attracts more than 2,000 visitors each year. Here you can play analogue games in all their forms – role-playing games, board games, card games, miniatures games, live-action role play (LARP) and more.

Hanami, April 19
When the cherry trees blossom, the Botanical garden celebrates the arrival of spring with a picnic, just like they do in Japan. For the 23rd year, Spring Singing by the pond Näckrosdammen returns on Walpurgis Eve, when hundreds of choir singers gather to perform traditional songs celebrating the arrival of spring.

Hôtel Eggers invites you to a traditional celebration in the heart of Gothenburg. At 17:00, the balcony fills with spring songs as the choir Chorus Acusticus lets the music drift out across the square Drottningtorget.
Walpurgis Eve celebrations in Slottsskogen, April 30

The Cortège 2026, April 30
The Cortège is the strongest sign of spring in Gothenburg. It’s a parade that every year since 1909 is built by Chalmerists and runs along the city’s main streets at Walpurgis Night. For ten days, approximately 1800 Chalmers students will be building their carriages at the construction site near Chalmers Johanneberg.

Artwalk in Majorna, April 10-12
Visit 60 artists and craftspeople in their studios in Majorna. For three days, artists and craftspeople in the Majorna district open their studios and invite the public to experience art where it is created. You’ll have a unique opportunity to see their working processes up close, talk with the artists, and discover a wide range of expressions, materials, and techniques.
Bowie by Sukita, April 14 – August 30
Experience the iconic photographs of David Bowie captured by Japanese photographer Masayoshi Sukita. Now, 100 of these images are being shown for the first time in Gothenburg, at the former Konsthallen, Götaplatsen 7.

Nause Club Tour 2026, April 2
These were the songs played at every pre-party. The choruses that echoed across festival summers. This Spring the house artists Nause and Adrian Lux brings nostalgia back to life and reignite the euphoria of the 2010s.
Easter Darkness Festival, April 4
Easter Darkness Festival is a doom metal festival bringing together eight bands from Sweden, Germany and Austria. During the day, audiences can experience music defined by slow tempos, dark riffs and atmospheric soundscapes.
Mozart och Bruckner med Jacquot, April 17-18
Conductor Marie Jacquot is back in Gothenburg Concert Hall with a piano concerto: Mozart’s challenging Piano Concerto No. 24 with the expressive Markus Schirmer is the soloist. Mozart’s Piano Concertos (27 in total) are thought to be among the best of his collected compositions, and the 24th in particular is the favourite of many.
Amanda Bergman, April 24
Amanda Bergman has touched people around the world for over a decade with one of the country’s warmest and most distinctive voices. Now she comes to Gothenburg Concert Hall for a concert.
