Following Sweden’s qualification for the World Cup, the City of Gothenburg will host free public screenings of Sweden’s matches, selected fixtures, and the final at venues across the city. Despite the time differences, locals and visitors can gather and cheer together from early mornings to late evenings.

Watch Sweden’s World Cup matches at Ullevi Plaza and Ullevi
Experience the electric atmosphere as Sweden’s three group-stage matches on 15, 20 and 26 June, as well as the World Cup final on 19 July, are shown on big screens at Ullevi Plaza and Ullevi. In addition to the screenings, there will be entertainment, activities, and food and drink available. The area opens two hours before the matches begin. Free admission.
- Monday 15 June, 04:00: Sweden vs Tunisia – shown at Ullevi Plaza.
- Saturday 20 June, 19:00: Netherlands vs Sweden – shown at Ullevi and Ullevi Plaza, with a total capacity of 10,000 people.
- Friday 26 June, 01:00: Japan vs Sweden – shown at Ullevi Plaza.
- Sunday 19 July, 21:00: World Cup final – shown at Ullevi and Ullevi Plaza.
Ullevi Plaza is the event area just outside the stadium Ullevi, first used during the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025. It has capacity for around 3,000 people and will have licensed food and drink service.
For Sweden’s match against the Netherlands on Midsummer Day (20 June) and for the World Cup final on 19 July, Ullevi stadium will also open, with screenings on the pitch for up to 7,000 spectators.

Public viewing at the City Library and cultural centres
The Gothenburg City Library and several cultural centres across Gothenburg invite you to watch selected World Cup matches together – with free entry in a family-friendly setting.
Live match screenings
The City Library, Frölunda Kulturhus, Kulturhuset Bergsjön and Blå Stället Cultural Centre will show live broadcasts of the following matches:
- Monday 15 June, 18:00: Spain vs Cape Verde (only in the City Library).
- Thursday 18 June, 18:00: Czech Republic vs South Africa (only in the City Library).
- Saturday 20 June, 19:00: Netherlands vs Sweden.
- Monday 29 June, 19:00: Round of 16 (potentially Sweden).
- Tuesday 7 July, 18:00: Round of 16.

Breakfast football at the library
As many World Cup matches are played overnight (Swedish time), the City Library will screen morning replays throughout the tournament, starting on 12 June. Bring your own coffee or buy breakfast on site.

Family-friendly World Cup zones at Grönsakstorget and Plikta
During the day, you can visit the two World Cup zones at Grönsakstorget and the Plikta playground, offering family-friendly football activities.
Grönsakstorget
This central square by the Moat will be dressed in Sweden’s colours and feature activities such as table tennis and football games.

Plikta playground in Slottsskogen
The World Cup zone at the Plikta playground will host visits from local football clubs, along with a family area offering a range of try-out activities.
- 12 June 11:00–14:00: Join local football team GAIS in the World Cup warm-up in Slottsskogen! Everyone is welcome to play football, participate in an obstacle course and meet players from the GAIS women’s team!
- 20 June 10:00–14:00: The World Cup zone at the Plikta playground is open. Come and have your face painted or create your own football-themed designs

Sports bars and pubs where you can watch World Cup matches
The FIFA World Cup 2026 takes place from 11 June to 19 July, and in Gothenburg there are plenty of sports bars, pubs and other venues where you can watch the matches together with others. As many matches are played late at night, venues have been able to apply for extended opening hours, with alcohol service permitted until 07:00.
