14m2Bao is as it sounds, Bao of 14 square meters. In a small place located in Stor Saluhallen, with a view and outdoor seating towards Kungstorget, you can eat bao as it should be served, made from fine ingredients that have been refined. Here you can choose from everything from pork bun, fish bun, tofu bun and more.
Hasselssons Macklucka
In Stora Saluhallen you’ll find Hasselsson’s Macklucka. Here, the heafty sandwiches are in focus, which are served over the counter in Persian Barbari bread from Aras Bakery in Krokslätt (a bread that can be compared to a thinner version of Foccacia). The inspiration for the sandwiches comes from all corners of the world, and in addition to Hasselsson’s three standing sandwiches, Hasselsson’s Reuben, Mortadella and their vegetarian Spicy Aubergine, the menu is also visited by a desire for experimentation in the form of a few guest sandwiches that are changed from week to week.
Banh Mi Shop
As you can hear from the name of Banh Mi Shop, the specialty is banh mi (Vietnamese baguettes). It is more than a sandwich, it is a result of Vietnam’s history and food art practiced over centuries to blend the perfect flavours. Perfect for lunch, on the go, or for the picnic. You must also try the trendy drink Boba, better known as Bubble Tea!
Kåges Hörna
Kåges Hörna consists of a u-shaped bar with 30 seats. Mainly classic, Swedish home cooking is served here, but also lighter dishes such as pasta salads and other things. The restaurant’s motto is to serve well-prepared nutritious food at reasonable prices and with fast service. The restaurant also tries to purchase their ingredients as locally as possible.
Gelaterian Göteborg
At Gelaterian Göteborg, the Swedish ice cream masters serve home-made Italian gelato, handmade luxury chocolates and other desserts to take home or eat in the restaurant section. Just like at their ice cream shop at Grönsakstorget, organic dairy products are also used here with a focus on genuine, high-quality ingredients. The flavours are regularly varied according to season and taste, and some of the flavours that can be found are dulce de leche with pecans, cinnamon roll, orange stracciatella and tiramisu.
Bar Bulot
In Stora Saluhallen you’ll also find the wine bar and restaurant Bar Bulot, which is a sister restaurant to the slightly larger restaurant Bulot at Norra Hamngatan 8. Bar Bulot is a restaurant in constant motion, where the focus is on natural wine and food that goes with it. Here, they work with ingredients from local producers and farmers, while the restaurant explores both old and new cooking techniques.
Hilda Nilssons Ost
The cheese shop Hilda Nilssons Ost is the smallest in Stora Saluhallen (and probably in Sweden) but still has the largest selection, with over 300 different cheeses, depending on the season and availability. The store’s history is long, and begins as early as 1907 when Hilda Nilsson buys the store in the center of Saluhallen, in order to sell cheese there as stated in the application. At a late age, she steps down and sells three quarters of the store. and since then the store is six square meters in size. Since 2014, David Andelius runs the store and carries on Hilda Nilsson’s legacy. The absolute majority of cheeses in the store are natural cheeses, with unpasteurized milk from animals that live outdoors and eat grass.
Wine Mechanics Saluhallen
The Nordics’ first urban winemaker Wine Mechanics, which is otherwise based in Gamlestaden, is also available as a wine bar in Stora Saluhallen on Kungstorget. Here, a lovely atmosphere is combined with good wines (of course) and good food.
