Moritz Ernst, born in 1986 Germany, studied piano at the Detmolder Musikhochschule. He has also studied harpsichord in Basel, Switzerland. Music of the 20th and 21st century is especially dear to his heart and he has premiered several works as well as collaborating closely with composers such as Peter Eötvös, Sandeep Bhagwati, Kent Olofsson, Miklos Maros and others.

In this concert, you will hear Sarah Nemtsov’s ”Passacaglia” for prepared piano with the exciting duration of nine minutes – ad infinitum, Michael Edgerton’s ”THRUSH”, based on the same bird song used by the Messiaen in his transcript of the North American blackbird and wood thrush as well as a half hour long excerpt from Sandeep Bhagwati’s three hour long work ”Music of Crossings” for piano.
