The 2020 installations are spread arround whole Alingsås with the focus on the stretch from Gerdsken via Lillån to Nolhaga, with a few exceptions. This year's theme is Find the Lights, which puts the light and its significance in focus.
New for this year is that it is not a specific lighting trail, that the visitor follows. Instead, we invite you to a journey of discovery among 24 spectacular, minimalist, childish, smart, temporary and permanent points of light that all make everyday life brighter. You will find them all in the app Lights in Alingsås.
Among other things, the aim is to display the permanent lighting installations which Alingsås already has, and which Alingsås Energi has given the town over the last twenty years on facades, walkways, trees and tunnels. The international workshop had to be postponed until 2021. Instead, there will be a number of installations with local and Swedish designers.
The installations are lit from dusk to dawn and follow the usual street light's rhythm. You choose which time that suits you the best to visit the event. There are more visitors on weekends than on weekdays.
Walking and seeing the installations on your own is for free. When you have downloaded the Lights in Alingsås app, you have the choice to buy a digital guided tour in your phone for 35 SEK, if you want to know more about the installations.
About 70,000 visitors experience Lights in Alingsås every autumn and the city's cafés and restaurants have music evenings, special Lights menus and Lights concerts. This year, the event will be slightly different. This means that the light area will be bigger from last year with more points of light. It is entirely up to you in which order you want to discover them and to avoid bigger crowds. Surprises will appear along the way. Show consideration, keep your distance and take care of each other out there!
