In the evening, Emanuele Malgioglio runs the pizza oven in the proper Neapolitan way at Trattoria 21 in the neighbourhood Gamlestaden. The atmosphere is relaxed, or as the restaurant describes it – "gastronomy for people in jeans".
This Instagram friendly hotel on the main boulevard Avenyn went all the way to Sicily for their pizzaiolo Turi, who brought his family's sourdough recipe to Gothenburg. And sourdough is said to be a healthier choice.
Norwegian-owned restaurant chain Olivia has a passion for cooking Italian food from scratch. Their Gothenburg restaurant focuses on the Neapolitan cuisine and of course the pizza – in numerous varieties – is a given on the menu.
Brewers Beer Bar
On buzzing street Tredje Långgatan, and equally trendy Magasinsgatan, Brewers serve their popular sourdough pizza, including several vegan options. Get your pizza to go, or combine it with a local craft beer in the cozy restaurant.

The pizzas at Magazzino are in high demand, so make sure to make your reservation as early as possible. Light and fluffy dough and gourmet toppings is part of the success, and you can order any of the pizzas gluten-free.
On the street Plantagegatan, a stone's throw from the square Järntorget, Ombra offers classic Italian pizzas in a warm and authentic atmosphere. Plus if you're lucky you might spot director Ruben Östlund, a regular at the restaurant.
