World-famous concert hall

Göteborgs Konserthus

Home to Sweden’s National Orchestra.

Gothenburg Concert Hall is in full activity the year round. Housed in this beautiful building, which has been praised for its acoustics, is Sweden’s National Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.

Gothenburg Concert Hall is a world-famous building from 1935 with ground-breaking architectural design. The main room’s acoustics are still ranked among the best in the world. The concert hall is situated on Götaplatsen and shares the space with the City Theatre, the Museum of Art, and the grand statue of Poseidon.

The concert hall is staffed with an orchestra of 109 musicians, an orchestra which has developed from a small, regional orchestral society to a fully-fledged symphonic orchestra. When the Concert Hall was built in 1935, it was intended for 60 musicians, and has grown since then.
