Hagabadet is a true Gothenburg icon. Established in 1876, Hagabadet offers a spa with beautiful Art Nouveau-style bathing areas, relaxing spaces and revitalising treatments. It also offers the city’s largest selection of fitness classes and yoga. In the Orangeriet café, you can enjoy breakfast, delicious smoothies, sandwiches and more.
From bathhouse to health club
When Hagabadet first opened in 1876, it was known as the Renström Bath and Washhouse. Businessman Sven Renström donated funds for its construction under the motto “For beauty, health and hygiene”. The aim was to improve public health at a time when Gothenburg was repeatedly struck by cholera. With clean water and hygiene as guiding principles, the bathhouse became a vital public institution. Today, its legacy lives on as a modern health club that combines wellness and science, with a strong focus on quality of life.
