Hönökaka is a beloved local bread from the island Hönö in Gothenburgs archipelago. It’s a type of flat, soft, light, and dimpled bread that is baked in round pieces, and is now mainly baked and distributed by Åkes hembageri. The family-run bakery was started by Åke Johannesson in the 1930’s on the island Hönö – and since 2022 this original bakery premises is turned into the charming shop Hönökakans Hus.

The shop, as well as the bakery, is run by the third and fourth generations of Åke’s family. Here you can exclusively buy the even more traditional version of the bread – Bagebrö, and a curated selection of interior decor, art, and vintage items. During late summer, you can also find beautiful flowers from their own garden.
