Explore Hyppeln
Hiking and Swimming
The three-kilometre trail on Hyppeln, part of Göteborgs skärgårdsled and Kuststigen (the Coastal Trail), takes you on a circular route around the island, offering breathtaking views of the sea. One of the highlights along the way is Jättehuvudet (‘The Giant’s Head’), a tall and steep hilltop with a view overlooking the island of Marstrand. At Hyppeln’s highest point, you’ll also find a historic military fort with a wooden deck – an ideal spot for a picnic. For more information about the trail, visit westswedentrails.se.
Looking to cool off? Sandtången on the island’s north-west coast is a popular place to swim, with a sandy beach and a floating jetty.
Guest harbour, sauna and grocery shop
The island also has a popular guest harbour, featuring a diving tower by the water and a sauna that can be booked year-round. In the summer season, the harbour is also home to the restaurant Stora Oset, where you can enjoy a meal or a refreshing drink by the sea. Head a little further and you’ll reach Hökeriet butik & café, the island’s small grocery shop.
