Archipelago island

Hyppeln

One of the northernmost islands in the archipelago.

Hyppeln is also known as “the mackerel paradise” and is located the northern part of the Gothenburg archipelago. Here you can walk on the trail along the water and get an unbeatable view of the sea. Take the opportunity to visit the “giant head” which is a high steep hill where you get a nice view of the Carlsten Fortress on Marstrand.

The island is only separated by a narrow inlet from the island Rörö, where you can find a popular marina, a sauna and a boules court. You can buy both food, have som coffee or shop for gifts at Hyppeln Affär & Café.

On Hyppeln you can hike and enjoy some excellent areas of flurish nature. Within walking distance from the harbour lies the shallow sandy beach Sandtången. If you want to go for a swim, check out the northwestern part of the island.
