At 246 metres and 74 storeys, Karlatornet is the tallest building and residential tower in the Nordics. It has quickly become a prominent landmark in Gothenburg, visible from many parts of the city.
Hotel, restaurant and observation deck
Right next to Karlatornet is Clarion Hotel Karlatornet, which opened in September 2024. The hotel features a spa, the restaurant The Social Bar & Bistro, and, for those looking to stay high above the city, exclusive rooms on the 58th floor of the tower.
Karlatornet currently houses offices and 611 flats. In summer 2026, both the restaurant Exo and the observation deck Gothenburg View are set to open. The combined bar and restaurant Exo – named after the exosphere, the outermost layer of the atmosphere – will offer striking views alongside modern, internationally inspired cuisine.
On the 69th floor, an entire level will open to the public as Gothenburg View. At 220 metres above ground, visitors can enjoy a truly unique experience with panoramic views across much of the city. The observation deck is scheduled to open in summer 2026 but is already available for group bookings. Read more at gothenburgview.se.
Part of a new district
Karlatornet is located in the heart of the emerging district Karlastaden – eight blocks featuring around 2,000 homes, as well as hotels, shops, restaurants and offices. Karlastaden forms part of the wider Lindholmen area, a historic shipyard district on the northern bank of the river Göta älv. Read more at karlastaden.se.
