Inside a former chocolate factory on Ringön, Kolgruvan has made room for concerts, culture, creative projects and new ideas. Event spaces, coworking areas, studios and workshops all share the same raw industrial setting, while public events occasionally open the doors to a wider audience.
Kolgruvan describes itself as a “playground for cultural industries”, which gives a pretty good idea of the place. Filmmakers, designers, musicians and craftspeople are among those working here, with around twenty desk spaces spread across seven offices. Shared areas are also used for projects, conversations and events, making Kolgruvan both a workplace and a meeting point for Ringön’s creative scene.
The spaces can be adapted to whatever is happening. The former factory has both large and small areas indoors and outdoors, used for everything from seminars, workshops and product launches to parties and other events. There are also film and photography studios and workshop spaces for creative productions.
Getting to Kolgruvan
Kolgruvan is located at Kolgruvegatan 12 on Ringön, not far from the Frihamnen public transport stop. It is easy to reach from central Gothenburg by public transport.
